Getting Leery of Leary?

Question: what do you do if you are Dennis Leary and fame is fleeting and noone really listens much to you anymore? I got it: You attack the unfortunate and try to get attention by attacking children and adults that have Autism.

BAD IDEA !!!

In the book, 'Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid,' Leary argues the "huge boom" of autism can be attributed to "inattentive" parents trying to explain why their "dumb-ass kids can't compete academically."
"So they throw money into the happy laps of shrinks ... to get back diagnoses that help explain away the deficiencies of their junior morons," he writes. "I don't give a [bleep] what these crackerjack whack jobs tell you - yer kid is NOT autistic. He's just stupid. Or lazy. Or both."
While the chapter caught many media outlets and autism groups off guard, Leary released a statement on Thursday stating his words had been taken out of context.
"I thought I made my feelings about autism very clear: that I not only support the current rational approaches to the diagnoses and treatment of real autism but have witnessed it firsthand while watching very dear old friends raise a functioning autistic child.... The point of the chapter is not that autism doesn't exist -- it obviously does -- and I have nothing but admiration and respect for parents dealing with the issue, including the ones I know. The bulk of the chapter deals with grown men who are either self-diagnosing themselves with low-level offshoots of the disease or wishing they could as a way to explain their failed careers and troublesome progeny," Leary said.

The Autism Society of America respondeds: "For Mr. Leary to suggest that families or doctors conspire to falsely diagnose autism is ridiculous . . . [His] remarks reflect the same misconceptions of autism being caused by bad or unemotional parenting that were held over 50 years ago."
Leary began his career as a comedian, and is famous for his profanity laced explosive temper. Sphere: Related Content

Michael Savage is the moron of the week at Celebrity wire!

Every once in awhile we have to take great exception with someone who is a minor celebrity at best. Michael Savage is a radio talk show host. Most people who are interested in major celebrities or people with any talent don't know who he is, because he has no talent other than a big mouth. Last Wednesday on his radio talk show Michael Savage said of autistic children "In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out". On his radio show last week, he also said: "What do you mean (autistic children) they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, you idiot.'" Some people might remember this guy almost became a celebrity with a show on MSNBC but he was fired after he told a caller he should "get AIDS and die, you pig." On the one hand we could consider this fool Michael Savage such a moron and uneducated that we really shouldn't give him a word on any of our channels. On the other hand the other moron here, Mark Masters of Talk Radio Network (which is supposed to be a credible station) still employs him and has him on the air talking up all this hate for handicapped children for ratings. What kind of pathetic little loser preys on innocent children just to get himself attention. I don't know any autistic chidren that have any kind of behavior problem as bad as that of Michael Savage or his employers. At some point we need to stop destroying the great American fabric of society and take some responsibility for what we put on the air. What can you do? A LOT!! Write these guys and e-mail them and call Mark Masters at Talk Radio Network and do it a number of times at:
E-mail: info@talkradionetwork.com
Phone: 541-664-8827
Fax: 541-664-6250

and tell them to cut the nonsense and get this guy Michael Savage off the air until they get the message!!! We will soon get you names of advertisers on the Michael Savage radio show to contact and let them know you won't buy their products if they advertise on his show or that radio network!

Sometimes we have to stand up for children that cannot stand up for themselves and protect them against child abusers like Michael Savage! Autism is a very serious condition that afflicts a lot of undeserving children and they need our help and understanding. For more information on autism go to http://www.autismspeaks.org/

By the way I also happen to be a father of an autistic child. Unfortunately I think Michael Savage never had a good father to teach him right from wrong. So Michael Savage on behalf of the advise your father obviously never gave you, please let me impart this wisdom directly to you as a father: Stop acting like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man.

That's my opinion and the opinion of everyone I know that has heard about this nonsense. Sphere: Related Content
